23-11-19 | Green Auto | Doom Cocoon, Bitter//Washed, Never Plenty, Woolworm

As I arrived late, the opening offer DOOM COCOON was already three-quarters the way through their set at Green Auto. While missing an offering is always disappointing, seeing them just last week makes it slightly better.

Delicious hard groove stoner rock is their game, and the last few songs were a perfect sampler of what I had missed. Having just finished a tour, they were in fine shape. Tight and precise, I am confident the solid-sized crowd enjoyed the fuck out of them.

Next, the second offering from the quartet BITTER//WASHED offered their delicious blend of punk and stoner rock.

With punk sensibilities, fast and straightforward, they blended in elements of stoner rock guitar noises and arrangement, all put into a wicked set that was a blast.

Killer tight bass holding down the low end beautifully, with all the grooving jams for me to lock into. I bounced all over the front; many people had found their legs and fired up.

Following, it was the band that invited me out tonight, the quartet NEVER PLENTY, who made their second offering of heavily distorted punk with a side of noise.

One of the guitarists doubled as the synth player, which added a killer element to their soundscape. Along with fucking killer bass lines and big smashing drums, this was a wicked offering.

They poured themselves out high energy, fast and furious, especially the lead singer, who was animated up there, jumping on the drum risers. The crowd fed off them wonderfully, and a good chunk of the packed room was moving.

Finally, closing the night, the quartet WOOLWORM made their second offering. At first, they gave a straightforward indie rock vibe, but a hard edge presented itself as they progressed.

There would be moments of intensity, aggressive playing, and noise that would click back into that indie vibe nicely.

They had great vocals, even though they claimed they had blown their voice. The crowd was still packed but lost almost all the steam build-up from the past two bands.

He was pleased with tonight’s offerings.
