Kicking off this Saturday at the newly renovated and beautiful Bully’s Studios was a trio making their first offering EVER AGE. A new band on the scene, they dosed out a sexy blend of seventies-prog blues stoner rock that got the groove going right.
All sorts of groovy bass riffs laid the foundation for my groove. At the same time, the guitar wanked out a wonderfully irresponsible amount. All the blues in that guitar, with proggy stoner jams around them. Killer set.
Next was another offering from the trio HUMAN UNITY, dosing out a much more straightforward rock. They gave us a whack of fun, high-energy jams that the lead singer poured himself into. They constantly tried to motivate the crowd, but this passive gathering was not biting.
The drummer, also from CIRCLE OF TITANS, was a temp on this night, and other than a few cues that got crossed, they were tight and crisp. Fun to bounce around to.
Next was yet another first-time offering in the form of the trio VANTABLACK, a name I have seen around but have yet to be able to connect to. So fucking happy I finally did.
This hard stoner offering was just delightful, right the fuck up my alley. Hard riffs with a wicked edge to everything; they were tight and high energy. Dressed in SLIPKNOT-esque masks, they kept on the whole set, even though I suspect the singer’s mask muffled their voice a little.
Fucking killer guitar work, all the delicious squeals, and noises just setting my earholes off. Loved their energy and am stoked for more from them.
Finally, it was a repeat offering from the wonderfully enjoyable MATH BAT and their emo grunge good times. With lead vocals dripping with emotion, we are led through songs with passion and authenticity.
Killer bass work, always playing something interesting to blend into the mix, and tight drums round out this great set to end this portion of my night.
From there, it was the Fox Cabaret, where a costumed gathering of drunken humans was dancing till the wee hours. He was pleased.
