23-09-07 | Biltmore Cabaret | Izzy Cenedese, MidMay, Goat String Orchestra, Exit Strategy

Starting at Biltmore Cabaret, a thoroughly enjoyable solo guitar/vocals courtesy of IZZY CENEDESE. Usually, I get antsy with solo acoustic acts, unable to dance or stand still. Still, I was captivated by their beautiful and strong voice.

With the influence of RADIOHEAD clear and present, this was a great treat. Comfortable up there and in great control of that voice, I was taken away, and thanks to their hitting of the guitar with their wrist/forearm, a consistent bass drum-esque beat had me just shy of dancing. Beautiful.

Next, we received the first offering from the quartet MIDMAY. They dosed out a wonderfully sexy set full of just the sexiest of rhythms; they had my ass shaking right from the start.

Keyboard/vocals led the way and blended well with the sexiness around them. The bass and drums moved me, but the sexy solos always grabbed me. Delicious.

They started slow, which allowed me to bust out some sexy flailing, gliding around to their groovy, sexy bedtime jams. Slowly, they got faster and picked up the pace to a sexy cover of ‘1979’ that was so much fun. Great offering.

Following was a delicious offering from GOAT STRING ORCHESTRA, where this octet dosed out a funky psych country folk mash-up that was so goddamn dancy and fun.

The four fiddles/violins offered a different flavor, each getting a chance to shine in solos, improvised on the spot, and had me squiggling up and down the small strip I could carve out at the front of this good-sized crowd.

It was a great connection between them all and a blast to move around to. Would love to see them in a crowd that’s actually moving.

Finally, it was the uber-high-energy EXIT STRATEGY, and I absolutely fucking loved it. Engaging and fun frontman who kept everything going and had a fabulous stage presence.

Assaulted with the ever-so-sexy solos, grabbing me and squiggling all over. So much energy coming off that stage. High bouncing, rocking good fucking times. There are so many bands they would fill a bill with nicely.

Fucking right He was pleased tonight.
