23-07-23 | Red Gate | Goats & Lasers, Ken Kosmic & The Cosmos, Transistor Riot, Jackson Ramsey

Starting this Sunday evening at the always fabulous Red Gate Arts Society we received a solo offering from GOATS & LASERS. I fucking love the name, so already off to a good start.

Consisted of a person manipulating a keyboard-looking thing, creating loops that they layered over each other creating some great shit.

Many loops were made using their voice, tambourine, or other noises. The final song was created almost entirely of noises they got the audience to make. The creation process was fascinating; the results were killer fun dance tracks.

Next was an offering from Victoria, the quintet KEN KOSMIC & THE COSMOS, offering up a delectable dose of pop rock.

This set had several ass-busting jams, with the first three rows of people dancing by the end. Besides one song that dipped into emo territory, this was a banger of a fun-energy set.

The lead guitar was fire, laying down several just right and sexy solos that got me all squiggling. Groovy bass riffs clicking with tight and smashy drums were a treat to move to.

Following, we received the best dance-punk bands -and one of my personal favorites- in the city, TRANSISTOR RIOT. Propelled by some of the tightest drums in town, they unleashed a monstrously sexy offering upon us.

This was their 5th or so offering, and it was their best. The new guitarist has settled in nicely, giving us all sorts of beautiful noises. The bassist and their scream are always a fucking treat, but tonight they were on fire.

Finally, closing out this night, we received the excellent duo JACKSON RAMSEY, completing a perfect one-two punch. Electronic dance-rock following dance-punk was music to my feet and the best way to end this night.

Phenomenal drums play the sexiest rhythmic patterns for the keyboard/knob-turning person to layer over. Their jams were the perfect dancing tempo, and while the crowd had thinned some, those left got downright ass-shaking.

Excellent line-up, and huge kudos to whoever put this one together. Made for a great build-up of dancing fun for everyone and a pleasing evening for Him.

Infect the others
